Hi, I'm Shannon McCelvey Page, an Instructional Designer, Content Developer, and e-learning enthusiast from Texas.

Pac-Man Principles of PMBOK 7
Articulate Storyline 360 | Adobe Illustrator | Adobe Photoshop
I wanted to gamify learning in a new way for an overview course of the PMBOK 7. The Pac-Man works on the motion paths in Storyline and the states of the dots highlight layers with voice over audio after they are selected. This gives the learner some interactivity as well as helps them to digest some of the content they will come across in the new version of the PMBOK. In a future iteration, I plan to incorporate a 'second level' of the game which will highlight the processes. Currently, I have set the game to allow to collect the 'ghosts' and earn points on the slide visit. I thought of requiring audio, but as this is something I would like for the learner to revisit I wanted to keep it as open to navigate through as possible.
When making the triggers to earn the ghosts, I set a number variable and referenced it off screen. This did not have the effect that I wanted, so I ended up changing the 'stash' of ghosts to show only when a slide was visited. After they visited all 12 slides, there is a variable set to bring up the Game Complete slide. I also set a trigger to 'complete course' each time the learner won the game so that when it's incorporated in an LMS, the instructor can choose to let them earn 'extra credit' based on how many times they complete the game.
Kirkpatrick's Model
Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator
This challenge was fun for me because I love working with different types of quizzes and wanted to review Kirkpatrick's Model while incorporating some of my own designs. I created the buttons and interactive elements in Adobe Illustrator and added them to the Storyline file. This also challenged me to come up with a way to make directions look approachable and fun, and I think that it came out well. Additionally, the quiz gives a graded slide and the participant is able to retake as many times as needed.
PMI Kickoff Stakeholder Map Activity
Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator
This was a lot of fun for me because I got to use my passion for PMI and the Kickoff course that I took. An outside partner requested that I build a Storyline Template to use with the empathy map that is in the PMI course. The, my favorite business professor and I collaborated on questions that would relate to what they are working on in class. This way, going forward, I have a Storyline template that can be adapted for use in multiple places when the outside partner decides what knowledge they would like to focus on.
PMBOK 7 | Vocabulary, Acronyms and Formulas
Articulate Storyline 360 | Adobe Illustrator
A client recently asked for an interactive way for students to practice their terms, formulas and acronyms in an interactive way. Essentially, I took the reference text that I had created to use in a corporate partner's Rise course and created flashcards divided into three scenes for practice rather than just a static glossary. Each flashcard is accessible through keyboard shortcuts as well as using the built in navigation controls in Storyline.Â
During the second iteration, we decided that they needed to be able to quickly navigate 'home' so I created the home icon in illustrator and linked it on the master slide so that the learner could quickly return to find a new focus if they chose to do so.
Project Management: Building a Bridge
Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Camtasia
In this challenge I used an mp4 from Pexels to create a looping gif (Cinemagraph with one moving element) in Camtasia. I wanted to continue bulking up my portfolio with reusable templates for a corporate partner focusing on Project Management. I was able to create a new button set and incorporate some animations in the contextual menus as well as custom toggle switches and a gradable quiz at the end with fun sound effects for interest.
Building a Sustainable Workout Habit
Rise 360
This is an excerpt from a course that I wrote called Breaking Up With Your Gym which is a lifestyle course for the Office of Professional Learning. I used graphics from Freepik and modified them in Adobe Illustrator. I then wanted to learn more about Rise as a a new authoring tool. Ultimately. I exported it to a scorm package and uploaded it to an LMS. In my opinion, scorm packages should be modules in a course hosted on an LMS rather than the entire course itself.
It was great to be able to work with the new authoring tools. Overall, I think if there is a course that is very textually heavy, or if it needs an online textbook look, this would be the best way to go.
Math Movers
Articulate Storyline 360 | Adobe Illustrator | Adobe InDesign | Adobe PhotoShop
This was created because sometimes you just need time to make a fun little game and graphics for a friend. An educator friend reached out to have a simple addition game created for a classroom. I wanted to create something with fun feedback based on variables and did a deep dive into how they work in Storyline. From what I was told, it was engaging for the learners and the class did enjoy it. If they choose to upload it to an LMS, I also have it set with a completion element so that they can earn extra credit.
Early Childhood Aesthetic Development
Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premiere
This is a course which I am re-developing from a Blackboard LMS. I was initially tasked with designing a course for adult learners which would encourage adults to have fun with learning something that they cared deeply about. I have only pulled in an excerpt so far, but I was excited about this one as I was able to use some of my art as well as art from my daughter's portfolio as it evolved over the years. Ultimately, I want to repackaged the entire five module course into a portable scorm package that can be redeployed on any LMS that the client prefers. I enjoyed making the graphics and interactive elements in this presentation. Additionally, I recorded and created the introductory video using Adobe Premiere.
Project Management Outline
Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator
I enjoyed this because one of the partners I work with is a firm that specializes in Project Management. This was an easy way to get practice in on button states while also giving participants an overview of what the structure of the course was. Additionally, I was able to play with custom buttons and states while also thinking through the way the courses would be structured.
PMBOK Phases | Drag and Drop - Coffee Theme
Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator, Camtasia
This was created for an professor to help her Project Management Students understand the phases of Project Management. The students were tasked with an everyday process and then had to disseminate which phase each task falls under. At the end, they were scored accordingly. When I uploaded to the LMS, they were able to take at as many times as they wanted to so that they could have a score that they were happy with and they were able to practice it as much as they needed to. The initial opening screen is from storyblocks and I made the graphics with Adobe Illustrator and then added them to Articulate Storyline.
Q Sort | Project Management MicroLearning
Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator
This Q-sort microlearning is on about its fifth iteration. We originally wanted learners to follow the directions on screen and trust them to follow the directions. However, it quickly became apparent that we needed more hands on guidance. So after a few interations, we settled on covering part of the process with the directions (hence, the speech bubbles over select levels) and adding a large GO for when they finished rather than the default 'submit' button. This seems to have helped clarify the path that they should take and leads to less confusion.
Industry Capablilities
Articulate Storyline 360 | Adobe Illustrator | Adobe InDesign
This was a fun interactive to show off the different capabilities listed on a partner's website. The challenges I ran into were that the graphic they chose to use does not have a corresponding capability per grid. Therefore, there was some confusion on this first iteration. Currently, this is a WIP, but it is so much fun to illustrate how many ways to use a state change in Storyline that I just couldn't pass up adding it here.
